In the case of ceramic sockets, for instance, a great deal of energy is used in their production. On the other hand, however, they are very long-lasting. When it comes to light fittings with glass shades, ceramic sockets often lead to the glass breaking. For such products we therefore use synthetic sockets made of recycled material, which has a carbon footprint two-thirds better than primary plastics.
